Watermelon Walk

I make it a point to visit a court wherever I travel, and Rosé Rally was born from a sketch I created in Vermont. For this piece, I drew inspiration from the model’s homeland—the Sonoma County coast—which became the backdrop of the scene. On location, I painted a quick study live at the court before bringing it back to my studio to develop further. The warm palette of the game radiates a sense of joy, while the participants appear to stand on a surface that could be water—or perhaps wine.
