The innocence reflected in the first draft mimicked the innocence my life had infused in every aspect of it. I need her to remind me that there is goodness in me and that we were all once children. The part of my hand that has changed is the tattoo I have on my right hand. Scorning me with a dividing line between past and present, it’s a symbol of division, of no return.
This drawing is part of a series where hands were drawn at different points in my life. Hand Tattoo was started in 2011 and started back up again in October 2024 and finished in April 2025. It’s a busy piece with a lot going on including that hand tattoo! It's a tattoo of a bull that I got in 2015, that why it is not in the pencil sketch (the original drawing.)
